Lipid bilayers are a widely used tool to investigate membrane proteins in a tailorable lipid environment. Compared to traditional methods the bilayer technique is not limited to certain cell lines and extends the scope to subcellular vesicles and pore forming proteins like synucleins or toxins.

Offering a new add-on approach to standard inverted microscopes, the Ionovation Bilayer Explorer is easy to use, allowing researchers to combine high resolution microscopy and single molecule spectroscopy with state-of- the-art electrophysiology. The compact design fits any inverted microscope to provide a versatile solution that suits the needs in pharmacological research, drug discovery, and in academia.

The available optical methods depend only on the type of microscope used and range from simple observation of the bilayer to high resolution imaging and single-molecule techniques like FCS, FIDA/PCH, FRET etc.

Providing a total solution for beginners and experts, the Ionovation Bilayer Explorer opens the path for a countless number of new experiments, where e.g. ligand binding can directly be related to ion flux, or diffusion and aggregation in various lipid compositions can be studied in user defined and reproducible model membranes.

Benefit from our intimate knowledge of the technical requirements for successful high content electrophysiolgy, high resolution microscopy, and single molecule spectros-copy. Paired with a broad understanding of researcher’s assays and applications, Ionovation adds a new dimension to your microscope.
